2/8 as a Decimal

To convert a fraction to a decimal, divide the numerator by the denominator:

2 ÷ 8 = 0.25

Since 8 only has prime factors of 2 and/or 5, the result is a terminating decimal — it ends after a finite number of digits.

Note: 2/8 = 1/4. The simplified form gives the same decimal value.
