12/16 as a Decimal

To convert a fraction to a decimal, divide the numerator by the denominator:

12 ÷ 16 = 0.75

Since 16 only has prime factors of 2 and/or 5, the result is a terminating decimal — it ends after a finite number of digits.

Note: 12/16 = 3/4. The simplified form gives the same decimal value.
