The Lunar Cycle Explained
The Moon completes one cycle (new moon to new moon) in approximately 29.53 days, called the synodic month. The eight primary phases are: New Moon, Waxing Crescent, First Quarter, Waxing Gibbous, Full Moon, Waning Gibbous, Third Quarter, and Waning Crescent.
